To encourage foster and promote close relations between the University and its Alumni and among the Alumni themselves.

Our Services: Supporting and Engaging Our Members

  1. Medical expenses
    In case of a member of AAUPCC is hospitalised, the association will recompense as part of his/her medical expenses as stated below.
    • Members of the council of Management - Rs.25,000/-
    • General Member - Rs.15,000/-
      Any member is entitled for the above allowance only once.
      A claim request shall be submitted to the management council for approval via a member of the MC.
  2. Financial assistance based on personal appeal
    • In case of a crisis situation due to medical or any other personal reason and a member needs financial assistance, the Alumni Welfare Committee will initiate a fundraising scheme among the members of the association seeking monetary contribution purely on a voluntary basis.
  3. Child Birth
    • At the time of childbirth of a member, opening an account with Rs. 10,000.00 in a state bank.
  4. Appreciation of children of Members
    • Appreciation of children of Members - A certificate of Recognition and Financial donation of Rs. 15,000/- for a child of a member who qualified for a State University entrance.  Additional Rs.10,000/- for a child who is selected for the University of Peradeniya . This will be awarded at the next AGM. Notification and applications to be called along with the AGM notice. The year of selections previous to the AGM.
  5. Funeral
    Upon the death of a member of AAUPCC, the committee to coordinate and ensure the following activities.
    • The Funeral Notice through the General Secretary.
    • Flower wreath for a maximum value of Rs 6,000/-
      The confirmation and the details shall reach the Chairperson of the Alumni Welfare Committee through one of MC members.
  6. The main annual events organised by the Social & Cultural Committee
    • Sinhala and Tamil New Year Celebration in April, Christmas and Year end celebrations for MC members, family get together for members and their family members and outing with MC members and their immediate family members. Also open for General Membership subject to availability of seats.


Embracing Our Alma Mater: Strengthening The Bond

  1. Developing ties with the University
    • Promote the membership to participate and actively involved in the events organised by the University, Parent Association and other Chapters.
    • A special donation of medical consumables and other needs was made to the Interim Covid Centre opened at the University of Peradeniya for the students, staff and their family members who were diagnosed as Covid positive.
    • Project “Athwala” (WSAP-Working Student Assistantship Programme); helping needy undergraduates of the University of Peradeinya affected by the Economic Situation of the Country was a megaproject initiated by the Association in partnership with the Carrier Guidance Unit of the University. The total value for this project was estimated as Rs. 3.2 M.
  2. Promote relations between the Alumni and the students of the University
    • Organise welfare services within the University in consultation with AAUP
    • Special studentships to the students in the SNRC (Special Needs Resource Centre). Also support the unit in elevating their standards
    • Coordinate the annual student scholarships/studentships sponsored by the AAUPCC and members.  These studentships are awarded on the basis of academic performance and needy basis.
    • Organise forum lectures (online or physical) for the benefit of the University students.


Social Responsibility: Making A Positive Impact Together

Some of the significant events and projects initiated by the Association in the recent past.

  • A tree planting programme “Towards a Green Environment” was launched at the Bomiriya MMV, Kaduwela in 2019
  • Covid 19 medical assistance project was successfully completed benefiting 22 health institutions. The total value of the Project was over Rs. 16.5 M in 2021
  • Medical consumables worth of Rs. 2M was donated to Peradeniya Teaching Hospital on 2nd June 2022.
  • Office equipment’s for the school and other required material were donated for the affected families during “Aranayake  landslide” in 2016.
  • Household items and dry ration packets were distributed to 35 families of flood victims at Bomiriya in 2016
